Figma Make review

Figma's prompt-to-app tool that turns designs and prompts into published web apps with a Supabase backend.

Verdict

Figma Make suits design and product teams already on Figma who want to turn their designs into working web apps and prototypes they can publish to their own domain 3,5. The catch is depth: the backend is a basic Supabase key-value store, GitHub is a one-way push, there are no native mobile apps, and credit use per prompt is only estimated 7,8,11.

Good fit if you are

  • Designers and product managers who want working prototypes from their Figma designs
  • Teams that already pay for Figma Full seats
  • Internal tools, demos and simple web apps published to a custom domain

Look elsewhere if you are

  • Apps that need a full SQL data model or native mobile apps
  • Developers who want two-way code sync today
  • Buyers who need a fixed AI bill

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Attach Figma designs, components and libraries as context, then edit the result in a design-style properties panel 3,9.
  • Publishes to a figma.site address or your own domain, with hosting included in paid plans while publishing is in beta 4,5.
  • A built-in code editor, code export, a push to GitHub and version history with restore 4,8,9.
  • MCP connectors to Notion, Atlassian, Linear, GitHub and others, plus any remote MCP server you add 13,14.
  • Figma holds SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 20.

What to watch

  • Make sets up only a basic key-value store in Supabase Postgres, not a full SQL database 7.
  • The GitHub push is one way, to the default branch only, and edits made in GitHub are overwritten on the next push 8.
  • Credit use varies by model, task and context; Figma estimates 100+ credits to generate an app from scratch 11.
  • Content training on customer files is on by default for Starter and Professional teams 19.
  • Older Make files must be upgraded by late October 2026 to stay editable 16.

What Figma Make is

Figma Make is Figma's prompt-to-app tool. You chat with an agent, attach Figma designs, and it builds a working web app or prototype that you can edit in code or with design tools, then publish to the web 3,5. It lives inside Figma and comes with Full seats on paid plans; other seats and the free Starter plan can try it with limits 3,4.

Make is out of beta, while publishing is still in beta 4,22. In July 2026 Figma moved Make files to a new format that stores code in Git and supports any web framework, and older files must be upgraded by late October to stay editable 16. A closed beta for the Mac desktop app lets Make work on your own repository, with branches and pull requests 10,22.

What it can do

You start a Make file from your drafts and prompt, attach frames, or paste your own code 3,4. The agent writes the app, and a live preview sits beside the chat. You can point at elements and change them in a properties panel, draw on the preview, leave annotations or edit the code directly; Figma saves a version on every edit, and you can restore any of them 9. You choose the model, from GPT, Claude and Gemini versions or Figma's default 15.

For data, Make connects to a Supabase account you own and sets up sign-in, secrets and basic key-value storage in Postgres; it does not build a full SQL schema 7. MCP connectors bring in context from tools such as Notion, Jira and Linear, and paid plans can add any remote MCP server 13,14. Publishing gives the app a figma.site address or your own domain, and on Organization and Enterprise you can limit viewers to your company 4,5,6.

  • Actions. The agent builds interactive web apps and prototypes from prompts and attached designs, searches the web for data, and adds Supabase sign-in, key-value storage and secrets for calling outside APIs 3,7. Through MCP connectors it reads and writes data in tools such as Notion, Asana and Linear 13,14.
  • Setup. Create a Make file from your drafts, then prompt, paste frames or attach Figma designs 3. A backend is added by prompt or in Make settings by connecting a Supabase account you own 7.
  • Owning the code. You can edit code in the built-in editor, export it, or push it one way to a GitHub repo that Make creates 4,8,9; working on your own repository with branches and pull requests is a Mac-only closed beta 10.
  • Analytics. There is no analytics dashboard; you add a Google Analytics ID or other tracking code to the published app 4.

Pricing

Make comes with Figma's Full seat. On the Professional plan that seat costs $20 a month billed monthly, or $16 billed annually, and includes 3,000 AI credits a month 1,2,11. Organization ($55) and Enterprise ($90) Full seats are billed annually and include 3,500 and 4,250 credits 1,11. Seat credits reset monthly and do not roll over 11. Figma estimates 100+ credits to generate an app from scratch and 30+ to change a font, but use varies by model, task and context 11. Past the seat allowance, admins buy a monthly credit package or turn on pay-as-you-go up to a spending limit; Figma does not list per-credit prices publicly 12. Hosting is included in paid plans while publishing is in beta, and Professional allows up to 10 custom domains, shared with Figma Sites 4,6. A solo builder should budget $20 a month plus any extra credits.

A proposed class action in November 2025 alleged that Figma trained AI on user data without permission; in May 2026 a judge ordered the named plaintiff to arbitrate 23,24. Published apps run on Amazon Web Services and Cloudflare, and app data lives in your own Supabase project 4,7. Figma documents no security scan of the apps Make builds and says you are responsible for the data your app collects 5.
