Bubble AI review

Bubble's AI agent generates and edits no-code web and native mobile apps inside its visual editor.

Verdict

Bubble AI suits founders who want an AI head start on a web and native mobile app that they will keep building visually on one shared backend 8,11,12. The catch is lock-in and cost: apps cannot be exported as code, and workload billing plus new AI credit charges make the bill depend on use 15,3,6.

Good fit if you are

  • Non-developers building one app for web, iOS and Android on a shared backend
  • Founders who want to keep editing visually after the AI's first draft
  • Teams that want separate Development and Live environments

Look elsewhere if you are

  • Teams that want to own, export or self-host their code
  • Apps that handle HIPAA-regulated health data
  • Buyers who want a fixed bill regardless of traffic

Pros and cons

What we like

  • One project can hold a web app and a React Native mobile app that share the same database and logic 12.
  • Bubble delivers iOS builds straight to App Store Connect and publishes to Google Play from the editor 11,13.
  • Separate Development and Live environments, each with its own database, plus savepoints you can restore 16.
  • A security dashboard checks for missing privacy rules, exposed credentials and unprotected backend workflows 19.
  • Generating a new app and editing visually use no AI credits 5.

What to watch

  • No code export: apps run only on Bubble 15.
  • The Agent cannot run or test workflows, and does not handle payment, plugin or analytics actions 9.
  • An app that hits its workload limit with overages turned off is taken offline 3.
  • Bubble says its platform does not meet HIPAA standards 21.
  • The native mobile editor is still in beta 14.

What Bubble AI is

Bubble is a visual no-code platform for web and native mobile apps, and Bubble AI is its built-in AI layer 7,12. You describe an app and approve a plan, the AI App Generator builds pages, data types, sample data and sign-in, and the Bubble AI Agent then edits pages, workflows, data and API calls in the editor 8,9. Bubble launched the Agent in beta in October 2025, extended it to native mobile apps in August 2026 and released Agent 2 with the Bubble MCP on October 6, 2026 26,11,6.

Unlike builders that write code, Bubble produces apps in its own visual format. Apps run only on Bubble and cannot be exported as code, though you own your data and design 15. Web and mobile apps share one database and logic, and the mobile apps use React Native 12.

What it can do

Create with AI asks follow-up questions, then shows a plan of features and scenarios and a live preview before it generates the app 8. The Agent works in Ask, Auto or Approve mode; it edits pages, workflows, data types and API Connector calls, installs plugins and reads the development database 9. It runs the Issue Checker in the background as it builds and can fix supported issues, but it cannot run or test a workflow for you and does not handle payment, plugin or analytics actions 6,9. Since August 2026 it can also build workflows and data for native mobile apps 11.

Each app has Development and Live environments with separate databases. You deploy Main or a hotfix branch to Live, and savepoints let you restore a branch 16. Growth and Team add custom branches 1. For iOS, Bubble builds the app and delivers it to App Store Connect, and you finish TestFlight testing and review in Apple's tools; Google Play publishing also runs from the editor through your Play Console account 11,13. The native mobile editor is in beta 14. Bubble MCP, also in beta, lets Claude Code or Codex edit existing Bubble apps, but it cannot read logs, merge branches or deploy 6,10.

  • Actions. Bubble AI generates an app from a prompt with pages, data types, sample data and sign-up, login and password reset, for web or native mobile 7,8,11. The Agent then edits pages, workflows, data and API Connector calls and fixes supported Issue Checker problems, Bubble's own Stripe plugin handles charges and subscriptions, and the API Connector reaches almost any JSON REST API 9,29,30.
  • Setup. Choose Create with AI, describe the app, answer follow-up questions and approve a plan of features and scenarios before it generates 8. You then keep building with the Agent or the visual editor and deploy from Development to Live 9,16.
  • Owning the code. Apps run only on Bubble and cannot be exported as code; you own your data and design, can export data as CSV, and Bubble says it will open-source its code if it shuts down 15.
  • Analytics. Server logs are kept from 6 hours on Free to 2 days on Starter, 14 days on Growth and 20 days on Team 1.

Pricing

Bubble charges per app plan, plus workload for what the live app does and AI credits for building with the Agent 1,3,5. The web-only Starter plan costs $32 a month billed monthly or $29 billed yearly, rising to $39 and $32 on October 20, 2026 2,6. Web and mobile plans cost $69, $249 and $649 a month billed monthly for Starter, Growth and Team 2. Starter includes 175K workload units and 1,000 AI credits a month; overage costs $0.30 per 1,000 units, or less with a prepaid workload tier 1,3,4,5. If overages are off and the app hits its limit, Bubble takes it offline 3. Building with the Agent began using AI credits on October 6, 2026; extra credits are sold from the App Plan page without a published price, while generating a new app and visual editing stay free 5,6. Collaborators need Growth or higher 17. Enterprise is priced by quote 1.

Security and data

Bubble has passed a SOC 2 Type II audit by Sensiba LLP and offers a GDPR data processing agreement 20,22. Shared plans run on AWS in the US West region, and Enterprise can buy a dedicated AWS server in a region of its choice 22. Bubble says its platform does not meet HIPAA standards and advises against building HIPAA apps on it 21. Its subprocessors include Anthropic, OpenAI and Cohere 23. Bubble's co-CEO has said Bubble has not trained Bubble AI on user applications, though it uses data on how people interact with its AI features 24. The security dashboard checks for missing privacy rules, exposed credentials and unprotected backend workflows; Starter gets 10 basic checks, and Growth and up add 12 advanced checks 19. SSO for Bubble accounts is an Enterprise feature 18.
