Lyro review

Tidio's AI agent that answers customers and acts on orders across chat, email and social channels.

Verdict

Buy Lyro if you run a small or mid-size online store and want an AI agent with public, capped pricing that you can set up without developers 1. The catch: you pay for every conversation Lyro replies to, resolved or not, and running it inside another help desk needs Tidio's Plus plan 3,2.

Good fit if you are

  • Small and mid-size online stores on Tidio or Shopify
  • Teams that want public, capped AI pricing with a free start
  • Multilingual chat support across many markets

Look elsewhere if you are

  • Healthcare teams that need a signed HIPAA BAA
  • Buyers who require an ISO 27001-certified vendor
  • Teams needing many API actions without upgrading to Plus

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Every Lyro tier is public, from $39 for 50 conversations to $700 for 1,000 a month 1.
  • Answers natively in 48 languages without translating through English first 6.
  • Actions and MCP connections let it check orders and change records in outside systems 5,8.
  • Free start: 50 conversations on any Tidio account, with no paid plan required 3,1.

What to watch

  • Inside Tidio you pay per conversation Lyro replies to, not per resolution, and a customer who returns after 15 minutes counts twice 3.
  • Lyro Connect for other help desks is only on Plus (from $300/mo) or Premium plans 2,1.
  • The Lyro package allows 3 Actions; Plus raises that to 10 5.
  • No ISO 27001 and no formal HIPAA documentation 10,9.

What Lyro is

Lyro is the AI agent from Tidio, a customer service software company founded in 2015 that raised a $25 million Series B in 2022 11,16. It launched in mid-2023 on Anthropic's Claude and answers customers from the content you give it 11,4. It can also act: Actions and MCP connections let it fetch and change data in outside systems 5,8.

Lyro is sold as an add-on to Tidio's help desk, billed per conversation, with 50 free conversations to start 1,3. Through Lyro Connect it can also answer inside Zendesk and other help desks on Tidio's Plus and Premium plans 1,2.

What it can do

You point Lyro at your website, FAQs and files, and it answers in the customer's language on the Tidio widget, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and email tickets 4,6. Guidance sets rules and tone. Actions run API calls to check orders, change addresses or update records, and templates cover Shopify order status, Calendly, Klaviyo, Mailchimp and HubSpot 4,5,17. You test replies and Actions in a playground before going live, and Lyro hands off to a human or creates a ticket when it lacks an answer 4,5.

  • Actions. Actions call outside APIs to check orders, change addresses and update records, and MCP servers add more tools 5,8. Tidio's Shopify app lists refunds, cancellations and order edits in Shopify or any CRM via API 14.
  • Setup. Lyro scrapes your website and FAQs to build its knowledge and goes live on the Tidio widget without code 2,4.
  • Handoff to people. Lyro transfers to a live agent or creates a ticket when it can't answer, and an immediate handoff uses no quota 4,3.
  • Analytics. An AI support panel tracks conversations, resolution rate, transfers to agents, satisfaction and knowledge performance for chat and email 7.

Pricing

Inside Tidio, Lyro is billed per conversation, not per resolution. A conversation counts the first time Lyro replies in a new thread, and a thread closes after 15 minutes of inactivity, so a returning customer can count twice; an immediate handoff costs nothing 3. Monthly tiers run from $39 for 50 conversations to $700 for 1,000, about $0.70 each, and annual billing gives two months free 1. You don't need a paid Tidio plan for the add-on, but using Lyro inside Zendesk or another help desk through Lyro Connect needs Plus (from $300/mo) or Premium, from $0.50 per conversation 1,2.
